So, after Nick helped me at the murder scene, I dragged him off for some drinks. Because hell, he looked like he could use a few. So, we got there, ordered some drinks and food. While we were waiting, the great revolving door of Garou happened. First there was Aaron, then there was Nieve. Both of which only hung around for a few minutes, before being drawn away by their phones.
Our drinks and food showed up and we were just starting to work on them, when Nik showed up. The guy was smashed out of his brains. He noticed me and came over to say hi. So, I introduced him to Nick. The Shadow Lord made some quip about having the same sounding name as Nick, even if the spellings are different. And well, he also told Nick that I been talking about him and spewed some nonsense about Nick helping with Gerik. What the hell? And then, off he went to go get more booze.
Understandably, Nicodemus was furious with me. He thought that I'd gone and spilled the beans! And I hadn't! I swear! I mean, I had talked to Nik about an old friend who was a PI and I introduced Nick as an old friend who was a PI. So, I mean, the connection there was obvious. What I think happened, is Nik's alcohol addled brain mangled the conversation I'd had with him before. Talking about NIck being a friend that I had worked with in the past and the fact that /I'd/ been working on the whole Gerik thing.
God. Nick is so mad at me and I didn't do anything! How am I going to be able to prove to him that I didn't spill the beans?
Well, I was in a very bad mood for the rest of the evening. Still, I went Umbral and poked around the murder sites. I managed to find a cockroach spirit that was able to confirm that the murderer was a wolf. Wolf would wander around, find a good place to cross over. Shift to human, cross over, kill everyone in the home. Cross back over, go wolf and leave again. The 'roach did mention that the wolf had a red stripe on his chest.
After that, I visited my co-workers place. One of'em was hiding in the shadows and seemed to be really sensitive to the light. The other one has turned in to a bluish version of the Hulk. Damnit.
Managed to get back to the Realm, just before the sun came up. Visited the Walkers and told Riley about the killer wolf and gave her the hair. Flint showed up as well. Now, I need to catch some sleep. Have to have my wits about me, before I go talking to Nik and make certain that he knows nothing about Nick being anything other than some harmless normal Kinfolk. God. So tired.
So, I dropped by Nik's place and did a little information fishing. He doesn't even remember running in to Nicodemus last night and only vaguely remember running in to me. Thank god, he was just smashed out of his mind and spouting nonsense. I made a point of telling him that Nick was Glasswalker Kinfolk and that he was in the know. The wolves never look at their Kinfolk twice and Nik actually seemed mildly relieved that he hadn't gone shooting off his mouth and threatened the Veil somehow. Phew. All good. Now, I just have to convince Nick that everything is coming up roses.
I filled in Nik on my co-workers and the killer wolf. And, I got him to promise to teach me Questing Stone. Learning something from a wolf - this should be interesting. And, it'll allow me to keep an eye on him. I'll know something is up if he gets nosey about Nicodemus, while I am learning the Rite.
