Here come the Holidays!

Well, after getting Beth secured away at at my mom's place, I spent the remainder for the Holiday season moving between Brad's house, helping him with the Pool Hall, and helping watch the girls. Lily is easy enough to look after, although she is certainly getting very big! Eight years old. Where does the time go? :) Tamra is a little harder for me to watch, if only because she is bigger and stronger than I am. She's a nice enough person, but all kids can have bad days and while Tamra might be in an adult body - her mind is still that of a child's. I spent Christmas day with Brad and his Family. It was nice! Normal and quite relaxing. I enjoyed myself, played video games with the girls, and was a terrible slacker when it came to keeping tabs on things. After Christmas day, I visited with my mom for a few days. Beth is... She's not quite disabled in the same way as Tamra. She's stunted emotionally and mentally. It makes dealing with her somewhat... Tiring. Still, we'll all do what we can for her.
All in all, it was a nice /normal/ Christmas. At the very least, as nice and normal as someone like me is gonna get. It was great! :)
While the Holidays where nice, peaceful, and normal for the most part, it was time for me to get back to work. I went out on patrol and took Bartok with me. I love having raven kids. :) Or rather, one raven kid. While the others show up now and again to eat dog kibble(when pickings are slim) in the shelter I build for them on the roof, they've moved on with their lives. I'm looking forward to seeing young ravens being raised in St. Claire. Might take a few more years, but it is only a matter of time now. One way or another, it's really nice to have someone to fly with, play games, and just give in to my raven half for a time.
Anyway, we came across Samantha in wolf form, laying coins across the train tracks near the Bawn. Bartok wanted to steal her coins, so I sat back and watched him go after the shinies. He was having some trouble, she I decided to lend a helping beak. Teasing the wolf was lots of fun, although things started getting weird rather quickly when some guy showed up in a quiet four-wheel-thingie, which was running along the tracks. Bartok took off home with his prize of shinies, while Samantha slunk off in to the bushes. The guy driving the thing was all bundled up, as if it was farfar colder than it actually was. He came to a stop when he got to where Samantha and I were, then started waving around a tablet-thing. He seemed to be able to tell where we were. Roughly, anyway. Huh. I decided to mess with the tablet and see what kinda reaction I'd get, but I never got the chance. Samantha came leaping out of the bushes and attacked the man, who pulled out what looked like a weird 1950's ray-gun and aimed it at the Garou. So, instead of mucking with the tablet, I mucked with the gun. I stopped it from going off and Samantha pinned the guy to the ground. I pulled on another Trick, to see what this guy was... MAGE! Shit. What is it with me and Warpers, anyway? I swear I'm a magnet for the damn things. I tried to keep Samantha and the Mage from killing eachother. Fail.
When all was said and done, Samantha was nearly dead, I was seriously hurting and the Mage fled the area. I followed him to his car and got his plates, but it only did me so much good. Seems that driving with a clawed up face is hard as hell and he ended up dying on the road that night, when he went crashing in to another car. Splat.
Nokivaris was able to pull the weapon out of the police locker for me and I promptly stashed it in a pocket realm in the Umbra.
I ran in to Ila, not all that long after the possible Son of Ether went squish on the road and we had a nice little talk. Well, mostly I griped about the reception I'd retrieved when I came back from Spokane and talked about my uncertainty in dealing with Nick again. He had kinda accused me of sending people in blind and threatened to Mind-Screw Nokivaris, Just. Eh. She listened, which was the big thing, I guess. It was nice to just have someone listen to me instead of jumping to conclusions about what happened. We talked, she fed me (Gaia, I LOVE that woman's cooking), and we tabled the idea of sharing contacts in the future. Sweet! I told her about the dead Mage and asked her to use her contacts, to find out what she could about the fellow. See if he'd hand any friends, who'd be all pissy, because a fuzzy had clawed up their friend. Because that could get ugly, fast. In passing, she mentioned the fact that some of the people she knows don't really get on that well with the other people she knows and that keeping them separate is best. Hmm. Something that I was going to have to sit down and think about some, over the next little while.
Left Nick a message, saying that he should come by, as I needed to talk with him. Great. Now I have to talk with him and the last time I saw him, he was snarling at me. :P
